Digital Radio

Digital Radio is currently available in Australia’s metropolitan markets of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, with rollout in regional areas expected to happen in the next few years.
At present, Digital Radio can be received through a digital radio receiver (DAB+) and also via web streaming to any connected devices, such as computers, mobile phones and iPads etc. It is expected that digital radios will start to replace in-car stereos within the next 3-5 years. So far over 406,000 units are in market and just like Digital TV, Digital Radio is the future for radio.
Southern Cross Austereo launched its first digital channel, Radar Radio, in December 2008 and since then has lead the industry with the addition of Barry and The Main Stage to Southern Cross Austereo’s line-up of signature digital radio offerings.
Focused on new music, comedy and events respectively, these digital stations offer unique and compelling content initiatives and are flagships of Southern Cross Austereo’s leadership in this new medium. Southern Cross Austereo’s digital radio channels provide great integrated solutions for clients across on-air, online, via our social media channels and through live events.
