A fresh new breakfast show will blast through the Perth airwaves in 2012 when Paul Hogan joins Lisa Fernandez and Basil Zempilas on 92.9.
Coming from Melbourne where he co-hosted Triple M’s The Peanut Gallery, the self-proclaimed footy fanaticwill find good company in sports-mad Baz, as well as Lisa, with whom he has shared several mutual friendships over the years.
Prior to his move to radio, Paul spent years performing on the stage as well as in a sports piss-take series and says he can’t wait to tackle the new show.
“When given the opportunity to move to Perth I jumped at the chance,” Paul said. “I just didn’t realise that my Breakfast role would involve being Baz’s valet!”
“Lisa, Baz and I are going to have a great time working together. What idiot would knock back an offer to get up at 4 o’clock every morning and work in the media’s most cut-throat industry?”
An exciting second announcement is the addition of 92.9’s own Hot Ross to the line-up. After experiencing huge ratings success in his daytime announcing role on 92.9, the fun-loving Perth talent will join the breakfast team as show anchor.
Southern Cross Austereo Perth general manager Linda Wayman said she is delighted with 92.9’s new breakfast show.
“It’s always exciting to start something fresh and an expanded line-up for 92.9 breakfast is no different,” she said. “I have always been a fan of Paul since I was shown a brilliant video of The Peanut Gallery taking off the vuvuzela during the Soccer World Cup a couple of years ago. I am really delighted about having someone that funny and talented joining Lisa and Baz.
“It’s also very satisfying that Hot Ross will be joining the team as an anchor. It’s a great opportunity for Ross, who we have nurtured since he joined us as roadrunner at 19-years-old. He is extremely talented and has a wonderful attitude to work. He deserves every success in radio and I am proud that our work environment has given him the opportunity to take another big step. It’s exciting to have another local talent in breakfast –he joins Baz as the second ex-Hale boy on the show!”
