Triple M Brisbane announces new breakfast format: The Grill Team with Marto, Pete and Michelle, on-air from Wednesday

Three storytellers, each bringing their own great tales to the microphone is the way Triple M Brisbane has described Marto, Pete Timbs and Michelle Anderson, the three people now charged with sharing breakfast with Brisbane each morning on the iconic station (bios follow).

The Grill Team with Marto, Pete and Michelle will be on-air from this Wednesday, September 28 at 5.30am.

With the laconic, jack-of-all-trades, sport-loving everyman Marto on one chair; fellow avid traveller, motorbike tragic, social observer and wanna-be-wine connoisseur Pete Timbs on another; and national radio success story Michelle Anderson (and sometime stand-up comedian), on the third, Southern Cross Austereo General Manager Richard Barker said Brisbane was about to experience a move away from traditional radio.

“The Grill Team with Marto, Pete and Michelle represents a major move away from traditional radio; away from quite regimented, role-driven radio programs, where each announcer has a designated role to play. Instead we can announce that we have three great storytellers as the new hosts of Triple M’s breakfast show, The Grill Team,” he said.

“We’ve certainly listened to our listeners and are excited about delivering a show that’s bang on-brand, and what they want.

“With Marto as a the common thread, Pete Timbs is returning to live in Queensland with his Brisbane-born wife and two young children, while Michele Anderson, although Melbourne-born, is also returning to Brisbane, the city which embraced her as the host of a number one evening show a few years ago.”

“Triple M announced on Wednesday that The Cage with Ian Skippen, Marto, Sully and Emily-Jade would come to an end, and the final show aired on Friday (today) with farewell tributes from sports stars, politicians, music stars and more importantly, our listeners.

“Brisbane as a city is growing incredibly fast; it’s changing constantly and our listeners are reflecting this. Enabling us to reach our targeted audience is critical to the success of Triple M, and we know Marto, Pete and Michelle will connect and interact with listeners in a very special way.

“They are bringing a new format and new show to Brisbane now, and it’s exciting.”
