Recently described as ‘the most brilliant mind in Rugby League’ the former NRL great brings his quick witted humour to the breakfast radio mike. A renowned storyteller and one hell of a funny bloke, the popular media personality and can now be heard talking ‘everything Sydney’ weekdays
from 6-9am.
Matty joins fellow NRL legend MG and funny-man Gus for an entertaining take on the hottest news and the latest in sport combined with the best rock music for an epic start to the day for Sydneysiders.
Gus Worland:
This is awkward, because this is your first hour on the show, but we’ve been talking to you in the songs and I’ve got a feeling your manager (Glenn Wheatley) might have thrown you a slight dummy by not explaining what the role is here…
Matty Johns:
No mate it’s clear, he just said mate roll in at five to six and away we go.
Gus Worland:
See that’s the issue, we start at 4.30.
Matty Johns:
No wonder Stuey MacGill quit.
Gus Worland:
He was always on time because he was coming straight from the party….
It’s a 4.30 start, the commitment is 4.30 till midday.
Matty Johns:
You guys prepare? We’ll I’m usually up at about 3.30 milking the goats so I’ll have to get the wife to finish the last couple of angoras… mix up the fetta, lovely.
MG:
In all seriousness are you a morning bloke?
Matty Johns:
No, I’m a little bit vacant in the mornings but I’ll work on it. It’s like anything, I used to drop my first six balls in football but you’ll get used to that.
Matty Johns joins The Grill Team in the Sydney studio next week with the stellar line up now consisting of MG and Gus plus hilarious additions from Mick Molloy.
Tune in weekdays from 6-9am at 104.9FM and catch up with the latest at www.triplem.com.au
